Founder

As the founder of operater of Open arms Tutoring I wish to instill confidence in each of my students so they can become successful thinkers and inquisitive problem-solvers. I believe that students learn best while having fun in a positive, stimulating, and secure environment.  It is my desire as an educator, to help students meet their potential intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially. I wish to create an environment that is safe, supportive and invites a sharing of ideas.

Gabrielle Sholes

Founder

Gabrielle is committed to treating each student individually and enjoys working with them on a one-to-one basis. Her specialty lies with external students; building up their confidence and supporting them throughout the school year. She  prides herself on getting to know each student well and taking the time and effort to tailor her sessions to their learning needs.  Gabrielle has earned her degree in Psychology with a minor in Education. She taught on the college level for 2 years, where she taught Freshman Studies English and College Success.  Her specialty was developing program goals and objectives to tailor each students' needs. Her focus was on practical tips and strategies that will help students succeed - and ways to create a positive mind shift. Emphasis was on attitude, study habits and time and stress management. In a setting of active and collaborative learning, her students were engaged in a variety of instructional experiences, including discussions with reading, speaking, writing and listening assignments.  She also offered 1:1 tutoring to create a personal success plan that introduced various aspects of student development, including an awareness of personal learning styles that fostered the creation of helpful learning strategies through study skills instruction.
